JOHN "THE PROF" MATHESON: Belongs to the village of Spinningdale in Sutherland in the north of Scotland, but now lives in the Seaside town of Nairn on the Moray coast for the past 34 years.

His interest in Scottish music began at an early age, when about 7 years old he learnt to play the fiddle which he still does (or as some folk might say he is trying to play the fiddle) He comperes at many functions all over the north and north east, including severl appearances on the stage of Eden Court Theatre in Inverness.

He was involved with Moray Firth Radio for around 26 years, behind the scenes at first, then progressed to sometimes guest presenting on "Scots on Record" while Andy Ross was on holiday, he then became regular presenter of "Piping Hot" and for the past 8 years presented "All Scottish"

His main occupation was with the Scottish Ambulance Service which he served with for 30 years before retirement 7 years ago.

He is the present Drum Major of the Nairn & District Pipe Band.

John is delighted to be presenting "Highland Fling" on Nevis Radio, it gives the opportunity to share the music and songs of Scotland around the world via the internet.
