In Strontian at the Sunart Centre on 12 September, on the life of a great Moidart hero, the poet Alaisdair MacMhaighstir Alasdair.

The event is a day conference on the 12 September, followed by the Blas Concert which will make reference to Alasdair during the celebration of Clan Ranald and will be followed by a Ceilidh Cruise on Loch Shiel, retracing the steps of Alasdair, to Dalilea and Island Finnan. the event will be chaired by Gaelic Poet Angus Peter Campbell who will be performing the poems both in Gaelic and English and will feature many inspirational speakers.

The Lochaber Agricultural Society is there for the local farmers and crofters. The main event is the Agricultural show and family fun day out that takes place on the 4th Saturday of August every year. This year it's the 22nd August. It is held at Inverlochy Castle Farm, Torlundy. It has been run for over 110 years now, and is a great day out for all the family. This years details for the show will be in the local press, and on Nevis Radio. Nevis Radio will also be broadcasting live from the show.

Local McDonald’s Franchisee, Craig Duncan, has teamed up with Nevis Radio to find 1 lucky youth footballer (between the age of 8 and 12 years) to lead out Scotland and Macedonia ahead of the World Cup Qualifier at Hampden Park on September 5th. Listen to Nevis Breakfast for full details!

To Enter: People must tell us why their child should be nominated and also answer the question Who is the Scotland manager.

The following terms and conditions apply:

• Child must be aged 8 - 12 yrs on the 1st September 2009
• All children should be able to come out onto the pitch in front of thousands of fans and able to cope with the potential pressures involved within a stadia environment
• Any special care/needs will have to be communicated in advance, so the Scottish Football Association can make the necessary arrangements
• Players Escorts will not be able to specify which team or player they lead out
• Child and guardian must be available to arrive in Glasgow at the above address by 18.45pm on 6th September
• Prize includes official Player Escort kit and goody bag. Children WILL be required to bring their own trainers. Please note strictly no studs are allowed on the pitch
• Prize includes match tickets for the Player Escort (child) and two guardians.
• Additional tickets cannot be purchased in the same area (Reserved only for the competition winners)
• Those requiring additional tickets can only purchase them via the general public sale (these are not guaranteed)
